Beautiful 1950 Alfa Romeo 6C2500 SS Coupe by Touring

Saturday 11th March 2017
At RM Sotherby's Amelia Island auction of 10th and 11th March some good results were seen. This beautiful Alfa Romeo caught our eye, selling for $880,000USD it is a thing of beauty created by the legendary Touring coach builders.

First shown in 1939 as the third series of Vittorio Jano's legendary inline six-cylinder Alfa Romeos, the 6C 2500 marked both an end and a beginning. It would be both the company's last pre-war model, and, following World War II, its first post-war offering, with its engineering and styling evolving to meet the times. Accordingly, it formed a bridge between two eras and would come to be the last true coachbuilt, hand-made Alfa Romeo.

This Alfa Romeo was a class award-winner at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and was judged First in Class at both the Palo Alto and Hillsborough Concours that same year. Shortly following these accolades this 6C was acquired by the former COE of Starbucks, Orin C. Smith to add to his fine collection of motor cars.
