1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B wins Gold at Villa d'Este 2019

Sunday 26th May 2019
The 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B has won this years Gold Cup at Cernobbio on Lake Como, awarded by public vote. The Alfa Romeo also took the coveted prize of Best of Show at last year's Pebble Beach. The triumphant Alfa Romeo belongs to the American collector David Sydorick. Powered by an 8-cylinder in-line, 2905 cc engine producing 180 Cv at 5,200 rpm and coachwork by carrozzière Touring of Milano, it was presented at the 1938 Berlin Motor Show after two appearances in 1937 in Milan and Paris. This model stands out from the other 8C 2900 B Touring cars in some details, such as the inclination of the radiator grille and the absence of running boards making it even more unique and precious. At a recent auction, which took place in February in Paris, an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B produced in 1939, however, changed hands for the astronomical sum of 16,745,000 euros.
