Rolling tax exemption for Classic Cars

Friday 21st March 2014
George Osborne’s April budget has rightfully reinstated a 40-year rolling tax exemption for vehicle excise duty for classic cars.
In 2013 it was declared that all cars manufactures before January 1st 1974 would get exemption from April 2014, however we now believe that this is now a rolling exemption rather than a fixed date. Tony Blair previously revoked the 25-year cut of on getting into government in 1997.
Importantly, the date of prior to January 1st 1974 for exemption is the date of manufacture and not the date of first registration.
