An idea Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans, self confessed classic car nut, had came to fruition on Friday, April 4th – “National Classic Car Day” was born with the aim to raise money for BBC Children in Need.
The event Chris conceived was to encourage owners of classic cars on that day to drive them to work and to offer friends and colleagues a lift as long as they make a donation to Children in Need, What a great idea and fun too!
Specialist classic car insurers Carole Nash and Footman James got involved by agreeing to extend commuting to work cover to their policyholders. Furthermore Footman James had a large number of classics in its Cradley Heath car park. Employees arrived in a pair of classic Minis and a VW Beetle to mark the occasion, Chris Evans celebrating the day in Broadcasting House with a special cake sent by Carole Nash.
What a great idea for charity and to encourage people to get out and enjoy their cars and promote the benefit of owning classics to others, long may it continue!
